Last Sacrifice

The beating heart born of the star,
Cradled and tethered, hovering afar.
Cord entwined with chains of steel.
Eyes still closed unable to feel.

Little one, who does not flail,
Whimper nor wail.
Stay still and stay sane.
Just a little while, all will be slain…

I’m here. Don’t look yet.
You’re still young and fate unset.
Shh… don’t cry. It’s only ice.
Let myself… be the last sacrifice.
